Cat skiing and boarding is fantastic backcountry skiing. Terrain is predominately gladded tree skiing, with occasional tree bands leading into open chutes suiteable for advanced intermediate to advanced type skier. Depending on the group and conditions of the day, you can expect to get 8 10 runs, which is approximately 10, 000 12, 000 vertical for the day. Each of our 3 cats are fully heated and holds 12 people. Find 11 friends or family and book the entire cat!
Anyone 18 years of age and younger must be accompanied by their parent. It is mandatory they wear a helmet. Although helmets are not recommended for everyone, Fernie Wilderness Adventures highly recommends wearing one.
Skiable terrain is dependant upon current weather conditions, group ability and safety. As with any climate controlled activity some alterations to daily plans may be necessary to provide the safest experience possible for that days conditions. All our guides have avalanche & first aid training and strive to offer a professional, yet fun atmosphere.
Your trip will consist of a full day of cat skiing, lunch (advise of food allergies) and use of our avalanche transceivers. It does not include transfer to and from our Lodge, which is a 20 minute drive, fat ski rentals or gratuities. If you do not have your own transporation, we can arrange it for you at an additional charge. Fat skis can be rented (boots & poles not included).
Single or multi-day trips available.
Our Lodge features a large living area and dining room. Eight bedrooms, 3 with private bathrooms. After a day of cat skiing enjoy the outdoor wood fired hot tub on the back deck. The Lodge is generator and solar powered with cell phone service from the parking lot.
